First time for everything

In Uncategorized on October 7, 2012 at 8:14 PM

Tonight marks the first time I’ve ever made a meatloaf. Not to go against my Jedi beliefs, but it turned out pretty good. I have eaten it in the past, but that was always cooked for me.

I had a friend who made one once that was still raw on one side, and instead of cooking the rest of it, he just put cheese over the top of it. That sight turned me off of meatloaf for a very long time. My father, mother, and sister all make very good meatloaf.

I called my mom to ask her how to do it, and following her directions, it came out great! Thanks, mom!

I mixed onions that I diced, oregano, Italian Seasoning, and parsley with just enough pepper to tase. Put it in the loaf pan, that was a tad too big for a meatloaf for two people, and set it in the oven at 375 degrees for 45 mineuts. The au gratain potatoes we had as a side took the same temperatures, and length, so we tossed them into the oven as well.

The entire time it was baking, I was worried that it would not come out right. My biggest fear was that it would still be pink in the middle. I was overjoyed when it came out perfectly cooked, all the way through!

The experience has shown me that just because one guy ruined the meatloaf for me, it does not mean that all meatloaves are unedible. I did not top mine with cheese, and try to pass it off as done, but rather gave it the time required to fully bake.

Going against my beliefs again, and feeling mighty proud of my self. May make another one someday
